Ocean City is well known as the White Marlin Capital of the World. Every year, the angler who catches the first white marlin of the season out of the Ocean City Inlet – usually in May or June can win $15,000 in prize money!
The annual White Marlin Open features even larger cash prizes for the world’s best fisherman. This event draws hundreds of spectators, too, who can get a glimpse of the day’s top fish at the daily, free public weigh-ins.
Ocean City Fishing By Boat

Ocean City Surf Fishing
Between 10 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. surf fishermen can enjoy beachside catches. Local regulations require that fishermen must stay at least 50 yards away from swimmers and other beach-goers. Surf fishing is also allowed on Assateague Island, except along designated surfing zones.
